Co-ops contribute to YMCA

PTCI and TCEC jointly donate $5,000 to YMCA

“We build people.”

The spirit of hope and community captured by the slogan is strong at the Texas County Family YMCA. The nonprofit is more than just a gym. It is a community with something for everyone in your family. That’s why two local cooperatives, PTCI and TCEC, come together annually to donate $5,000 to the organization’s annual fundraising campaign.

Cooperatives were founded many years ago on seven principles. This joint donation demonstrates two of the principles: Principle Six, “Cooperation Among Cooperatives” and Principle Seven, “Concern for Community.”

Donations fund the YMCA’s scholarship program, which helps low-income families with membership and program fees. The campaign also helps to keep programs affordable for all members, provides upkeep for the facility and helps with the overall sustainability of the YMCA.

“People may not believe it, but their change can make a change,” said YMCA CEO Tiana McCowan. “This means your gift can make a difference no matter how large or small. The Texas County Y can help youth achieve their potential, empower people of all ages to lead healthier lives, and strengthen the bonds of community. There are lots of great YMCA stories to be heard and a lot more that can be created with support from companies like PTCI, TCEC, and awesome community supporters. Thank you for your support!"
