Afterhours service improves for TCEC members

Power outages usually don’t happen on a schedule. When you need to report an outage, you expect it to be quick and easy.

As a direct result of feedback from members, a new company will answer TCEC’s phones after hours. TCEC evaluated several options, such as bringing the afterhours service inside the company, before making a decision that was the best fit for the entire membership.

KAMO Power is in Oklahoma

TCEC has arranged for KAMO Power, an electric generation and transmission cooperative headquartered in Vinita, to answer calls and dispatch service personnel after hours.

The agreement brings TCEC members the following benefits:

  • Easier to explain outage locations – KAMO Power personnel will have a better understanding of locations and land numbers such as section, township and range because they are local to Oklahoma.
  • Streamlined communication with service personnel – KAMO Power will use TCEC’s radio system so the cooperative doesn’t have to change work practices at night.
  • Proven experience – KAMO Power has provided dispatch service for 30 years.

The afterhours service is primarily available to take outage reports and dispatch service personnel. They will also take a message for any other concerns. TCEC members who have questions or need assistance for something other than an outage, should call 580.652.2418 from Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., when a TCEC member service representative is available.
