Power line safety - it's a big deal

Local students win TCEC electrical safety month poster contest

- In 2016, 260 electrocutions took place out of a population of 323,127,513 across the United States, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Electricity is an everyday necessity. Learning electrical safety steps and situations is the most valuable investment to you, your family and others. Any downed line is potentially energized and deadly.

TCEC, your local electric cooperative, offers a poster contest to students in its service area every year. A first and second place winner is selected for each grade third through sixth.

Safety poster contest engages students

Students had a variety of power line safety messages for their posters, from operating farm machinery safely to flying kites. First place winners received a backpack and notepad. Second place winners received a backpack.

Contest Winners
