TCEC CEO Zac Perkins speaks at OPSU Commencement
Zac Perkins, OPSU alumnus and TCEC CEO, began his OPSU commencement address by looking back.
He said 17 years ago he was sitting in the same seat as the graduates, wondering what he was going to do with his degree. After pumping gas for three years he had the opportunity to join the electric cooperative business. The next five years were spent working at Swisher Electric in Tulia, Texas, before coming to work at TCEC. The dedication and support he found at OPSU helped him get to where he is today.
He told students to be patient, as there is a lot to learn along the way, to have integrity and be true to their word. He also reminded students, “Respect is not given, it is earned.”
“There are no limits on what you can do in the future with an OPSU degree,” said Perkins. “The decision is yours. You have a great foundation to work on from here. Be proud of your degree, you have earned it.”
